I cannot find a user when I search for them to assign a role. How can I add them to Moodle?

 

Most enrolment on Moodle courses is handles through synchronisation with SAMIS. However, if you need to manually enrol a student or staff member, and cannot find them when you search for them in Assign Roles, you can add them as follows:

  1. Firstly you need to add the SAMIS block to your course. If you have already got this go to step 4 below.
  2. Go into your course, and click on the Turn Editing On link within the Administration block.
  3. In the bottom right corner of the course, click on the Add blocks drop down menu and choose SAMIS Integration.
  4. Once the SAMIS block has been added click on the Add User link.
  5. Enter the person's BUCS ID (which can found be on Person Finder), and then click Add User.
  6. Once they have been added to Moodle you will then be able to assign them a role in your course.  See How can I add students or staff to my course?
