I cannot find a user when I search for them to assign a role. How can I add them to Moodle?
Most enrolment on Moodle courses is handles through synchronisation with SAMIS. However, if you need to manually enrol a student or staff member, and cannot find them when you search for them in Assign Roles, you can add them as follows:
- Firstly you need to add the SAMIS block to your course. If you have already got this go to step 4 below.
- Go into your course, and click on the Turn Editing On link within the Administration block.
- In the bottom right corner of the course, click on the Add blocks drop down menu and choose SAMIS Integration.
- Once the SAMIS block has been added click on the Add User link.
- Enter the person's BUCS ID (which can found be on Person Finder), and then click Add User.
- Once they have been added to Moodle you will then be able to assign them a role in your course. See How can I add students or staff to my course?
